The Sweet Goodbye of Winter

The weatherman says we are in for a spell of warm days and cold nights this week, a harbinger of spring for sure. In New Hampshire, early spring is the sweet season, when the sap runs in the sugar bush and boiled off into maple syrup.

That’s the inspiration for these paintings on an old barrel stave and topped off with a vintage spile.

We still have a few weeks of winter to go, but it’s nice to look forward to this tradition of spring.
